Rattlesnake Ridge Elopement

Lauren and Daniel traveled all the way from Mississippi to the Great Northwest to explore and elope!  In typical PNW fashion it of course rained on their wedding day, and as we hiked to the top of Rattlesnake Ridge we were completely enveloped in a cloud!  With a first look beside a bright green-blue river, mountains shrouded in fog, an adorable tiny honeymoon cabin, and being soaked in cold rain, I'd say they got the full Seattle experience, hands down!

But with all the gloomy weather, we actually ended up with the trail and lookout all to ourselves!  If you know anything about Rattlesnake, it's a super popular hike and I've never hiked it that empty!  I think we saw 5 other people the whole time we were on the trail.  Perfect for an intimate elopement ceremony.

Congratulations, Lauren + Daniel!  I hope your Northwest experience was everything you'd hoped for and more!

Glen Alps + Alaska Native Heritage Center Wedding

Alaska Destination Wedding

Helen and Travis got married on a gorgeous September day here in Anchorage at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.  Helen and I have known each other since, oh high school?  Maybe even junior high.  We rode horses at the same barn and showed at horse shows together for years, so when I had the opportunity to shoot her wedding I was so thrilled!  Helen's two sisters also rode at the same barn, but when I was riding (well over 10 years ago, oof! I'm getting old!) they were just little kids!  Now both her sisters are grown women and were bridesmaids, so it was amazing getting to see them all grown up too!

Their day was so fun and lovely, and make sure to scroll all the way down to see Helen + Travis' bride and groom session too!  We had to take full advantage of the incredible fall colors here in Anchorage, and they certainly did not disappoint!

Crow Creek Mine Alaskan Wedding

I've been looking forward to Jay + Kyle's Alaskan Crow Creek Mine wedding for almost a year.  We chatted on the phone last summer and as soon as Jay mentioned that they might be looking into getting a helicopter to land on a glacier for their bride + groom portraits, my eyes turned into giant hearts.  Fast forward to their big day and not only did we get to fly out to a glacier for their bride + groom portraits, but we also got to take the tram up to the top of Alyeska Resort for wedding party photos (and, of course, a few more shots of just the two of them, because how can you not with that view?).

Their day was so beautiful and perfect.  Even the weather, which had been rainy and gross all week, played along and was sunny and warm.  As Jay was getting ready I learned that her mom was in the other room putting the finishing touches on the wedding gown that she'd made.  Yeah, her mom MADE that dress.  Incredible.  The ceremony was both rustic and elegant, and the whole evening was relaxed and joyful.  It was such a pleasure to capture their wedding.  If anyone else wants to hop in a Helicopter, floatplane, ski plane, or any other type of flying-mobile to get to their portrait location, count me in, because it was seriously the most fun thing ever.

oregon coast wedding

It was down to the Oregon Coast, Gleneden Beach specifically, for these two's nuptials!  They had originally planned a Washington wedding for last fall, but after some crazy circumstances, they ended up rescheduling and moving their wedding to the Oregon Coast, and I don't think they could've picked a better spot.

We started the afternoon with the bridal party at Whale Cove Inn, which is a beautiful little inn, nestled on the edge of the Pacific Ocean.  We had stunning views of the churning ocean as all the girls got ready.  Once everyone's hair and makeup was perfect, we met up with Laura's groom and the groomsmen for a first look and wedding party portraits on the beach!  The sky threatened rain, but other than a couple brief drizzles, we made it through photos unscathed.

We all piled back in our cars and made the short drive up to the venue, Eden Hall, where Laura + Austin got to peek at the hall all done up for their wedding before hiding away in the back room while guests filed into their seats.

The ceremony was full of love + laughs and the evening was cozy, full of great food and drinks, including a special signature wedding cocktail, homemade dessert, a peculiar dancing-in-ice ritual for Austin's brother who, I've heard, might have "cold feet" (or at least did during the dance!).  I'm so happy that these two finally got to have their big day, and it couldn't have been more beautiful!  Congrats, Laura + Austin!

matt + lauren's bridal veil falls oregon engagement session

Bridal Veil falls is a pretty perfect name for a place to do engagement photos, right?  This was an extra special shoot for me.  This fella right here?  He's my little bro.  And that's his almost-wife!  We'd been planning on doing a shoot with the two of them for what feels like years, but after he proposed in January, it became the perfect excuse to finally pull the trigger.  They live in the Portland area, so I actually did this shoot on my way down to our very first Wildbride Retreat on the Oregon Coast!  We stopped in Portland for the night to stay with my other brother, Ben, and do some last minute frantic trips to Home Depot for the Brave.  So Matt and Lauren drove over and we hit up Bridal Veil falls.

These crazy cats graduate from college next weekend and last weekend Matt had his film featured in the college film festival where he was nominated for an audio production award.  I watched him pull like four all-nighters (actual all-nighters, not I-stayed-up-till-3-then-went-to-bed) finalizing the audio on the film and I can't even believe how much work goes into every tiny aspect of audio on a film.  But I digress.

They're getting married in June, where I will also be photographing their wedding and doing some floral design for her bouquets!  It's going to be a super fun weekend, I can't wait!

karisa + ryan's snoqualmie falls mount si engagement session

Back in January I met up with Karisa and her man Ryan up at Snoqualmie falls for their engagement session!  We explored the falls and climbed on rocks and fallen logs, laughed a lot, and spent a lovely afternoon getting to know each other.  After playing around the river and woods we headed to a field where we could get a great view of Mount Si in the background at sunset.  It being January we were prepared for the typical northwest winter weather, but we were graced with one of the most beautiful days in all of January!  These two tie the knot in a little over a month and I can't wait to capture their big day!
