This wedding blew my mind in so many ways. Molli is a lifelong family friend and I was thrilled when she asked me to shoot her wedding. Molli's mom, Vicki, is an amazing event planner in Anchorage, AK, our hometown, so teaming up with her to create Molli's perfect day was amazing. The venue was actually my dream wedding venue, but since my husband and I got married in November an outdoor backyard wedding was just not in the cards. My family, Molli's family, plus dozens of close family friends descended on the house that week to create her gorgeous wedding.
In addition to being their photographer, I got to be florist for the wedding, creating all of Molli's bouquets for her and her bridesmaids, all the groomsmen's boutonnieres, and corsages for the grandmas. I also built the wedding arch, with some help from my dad, made from trees I got from a friends house in Tacoma and from branches around the venue. Vicki's good friend from Ketchikan, AK put together all the floral centerpieces that Vicki had designed, and Scott, Molli's dad, hand built every wooden box for the floral centerpieces.
While the day before and after the wedding were gorgeous, the day-of ended up being crazy stormy, so much so that the huge 20x50ft tent nearly blew away that morning and there were bridesmaids, groomsmen, and friends holding down each leg of the tent while the winds were blustering. My wedding arch blew over and broke, but was salvaged by the dads who put it back up and lashed it down. The storm subsided long enough for us to get some incredible portraits, and while we had a Plan B to do the ceremony under the tent, Molli + Daniel decided to just go for it out in the yard even though the rain started falling 15 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start. Still, I can't imagine a more perfect, homespun yet elegant wedding.
